On January 25th and 26th, grades 4 and 5 worked together with the PTO on their second installment of Eyes on Art. They continued their study of modern art and turned their focus to an American artist named Alexander Calder. The students modeled their own sculptures after Calder's work by using 5 colored wires and Model Magic to create realistic or abstract portraits, mobiles, and stabiles. This was a wonderful project and the kids really enjoyed working with this new medium. Here is a small sampling of their work.
