June, 2010
The end of the school year is upon us, but there are still a lot of activities planned before we head out for summer vacation. Field Day is June 1 and 2. Come cheer on your child’s team on this day of fun for all. Don’t forget to wear your team color! The mini book fair also comes to school on June 2. This is a great way to stock up on some summer reading material. This sale is buy one, get one half price.
The final PTO meeting of the year will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, June 9 in the lunchroom. This is the meeting when we decide what donations to make to the school. We will also have refreshments courtesy of the Norwood Education Association. This is a great meeting to come to if you have never attended one.
There are also some fantastic programs still to come for the children in June. Eyes on Art will be in the grade 1-3 classrooms on June 9. Children’s author, Steven Kellogg, will be at school to speak with the students in grades K-2 on Wednesday, June 16. The first ever student/faculty softball game will also take place on June 16. Come see the Class of 2011 take on the school staff members at 3:30 on the school fields. Wristbands are required for admission and can be purchased at the front office. All proceeds from this game will go toward reinstating the interscholastic sports programs at school. You will be able to have your child leave their mark, literally, on the walls of the lunchroom with our handprint fundraiser on June 16, 17 and 18. There are also class trips for grades 1, 3 and Kindergarten in the month of June.
The last week of school is bustling with activity for the graduating 8th grade. Be sure to check the school calendar for the complete list of times and locations for these traditional graduation festivities.
Have a great summer!
Sincerely,
Colleen Steele
PTO President
